We held our first fundraiser of the year on Saturday October 15th and it did not disappoint!
Collecting bottles and cans seems simple enough but it was the collaborative effort from families with swimmers taking lessons, competitive swimmers, all the way through to our Masters program that helped raise an impressive $2000 at the end of Saturday’s bottle drive—our first of the 2022-2023 season.
Everyone came motivated and eager to help. Those unavailable to participate the day of, helped by collecting from neighbours and friends in advance. Families drove trailers, kids hit the pavement and knocked on doors. A team of sorters helped organize, crush and count cans with the generous loan of Andy’s Auto as our homebase and touchdown point. We had a team with stellar signage set up outside The Beer Store and not one person complained about the cold. This kind of group activity only succeeds when you have a team that works together towards a common goal. We exceeded all expectations and finished the day excited to plan the next one.
A celebration with some well-deserved Domino’s Pizza capped off a great afternoon. We will do it again!
